About the Gallery
Nizhoni is a Navajo word meaning "beautiful", and the family
of owner Tom Moses has been involved with traditional Native American
art circa 1980. Tom's father Horace was one of the founders of the
"Gallup Ceremonial", and Margaret Winnips Moses, Tom's
stepmother, loved all Native American art, and was a courier for the
"Fred Harvey Company."
Tom's daughter, Margaret Moses Branch began this business
primarily selling weavings. Now Tom runs the store which is known
particularly for its Native American pottery and fine Navajo weavings.
The inventory includes pots by Maria Martinez and her family, an extensive
collection of storytellers, Navajo Pottery, fetishes and miniatures. Navajo
folklore speaks of tradition and contemporary figurative clay sculpture
by Laguna Pueblo artist, Dennis Andrew Rodriguez speaks of the present.
